The Ultherapy procedure counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin with a non-surgical facelift. Ultherapy is the only skin rejuvenation procedure that uses focused ultrasound pulses for skin sculpting and is the only non-invasive procedure that is FDA-approved to lift skin on the neck, under the chin, on the eyebrows, and can diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.
How Ultherapy works
As we age, our skin slowly loses the firming elasticity underneath the surface that keeps our face and chest wrinkle-free. The Ultherapy procedure uses the body’s own regenerative response to gradually restore elasticity to the skin and underlying tissue support. The skin’s response to ultrasound produces fresh, elastic collagen cells that tighten and lift skin on the face, neck, and chest. To be as effective as possible, Ultherapy stimulates collagen growth in the skin tissue at three different layers in a medical process known as neocollagenesis.
Unlike lasers, radiofrequency, or surgery, Ultherapy bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver a precise amount of ultrasound energy at the targeted skin depth, and the appropriate temperature for each client. There are no toxins, no drugs, and no needles to fear. Pure energy pulses trigger a natural response under the skin, jumpstarting the regenerative process that produces fresh and natural skin elasticity. Some patients see an initial effect right after their treatment, but the full results appear slowly and naturally over several months, as new collagen works to lift and tighten skin across the body.
What to expect during treatment
Ultherapy uses energy to reach optimal temperatures for neocollagenesis, or collagen regeneration, and as the energy pulses, you may feel a warming sensation. If needed, your provider at Charm Laser Skin Center can administer a light, topical anesthesia to the skin before the treatment begins to minimize any possible heat or discomfort. A face or neck treatment takes 60 to 90 minutes. After that, there’s no pain or aftercare to worry about. Some patients experience a slight swelling or flushed appearance, but these symptoms usually resolve in just a few hours.
